Kids Vol. 1: Vocalizations

As a sound designer and father of 3, I am constantly hearing my children make noises that make me think “dang it, why wasn’t I recording this?” Yet recreating that unbridled, child-like magic in a perfect studio setting is quite difficult. This library is my attempt at capturing the sound of kids when they are at their best: having fun.

I chose to divide the library by which mic I used, but these sessions also had unique goals. The ZoomH6 sessions were much more loose. I left my Zoom mic recording in strategic locations while I entertained the kids. The results are less controlled, but full of authenticity and joy.

With the KSM42 sessions, I tried to get a bit more control over the audio quality, while still letting the kids have fun and be themselves. Unlike professional voice actors, kids like to move around…a LOT! I had more of a list in mind, and had the kids repeat phrases and sounds that I thought might come in handy for video game or cartoon characters.

Finally, I divided the sounds up by which child gave the performance. Child A is a 7 year old girl. Child B is a 5 year old boy. Child C is a 3 year old girl. Group of Children is a group of 6 children under 7 years old.

You may use these sounds in commercial works like video games, commercials, movies, podcasts and songs. You may not use them for AI training or resell them.
